Dear folks of Christmas Island remembered

My name is Andrew Gray and I am the youngest son of the late 1921555 Cpl James Gray RAF. My Dad served on Christmas Island during the H bomb tests and I am researching about his time in the RAF and especially Xmas Island as he was never one to talk about it much and now I am left wondering. My Dad was an instrument techy while serving his national service in the RAF and when he was out on Christmas Island he was with 160wing seemingly because I found an old slide box when I dug out my Dads Xmas island slides and it said on it his name rank and number then Tent A1, 160 wing RAF, BFPO 170, C/o BFPO Hickam A.F.B (Air Force Base). I would be so grateful if anyone could enlighten me about the type of work there my Dad got up to because I am sure he mentioned cameras when we were younger. I was always inquisitive and always eager to learn something but over time I stopped asking because I realised my Dad had sworn an oath of secrecy and he didn’t like talking much about it. I recently sent an application form and cheque to RAF Cranwell historical service records dept and I am waiting to see my dad’s records and hope they can enlighten me a little as to what Sqdr he was with and more about the type of work he done. I have added a photo of my Dad and his mate on Christmas Island he worked with there and I would be over the moon if anyone in the shots was still alive to tell me what my Dad got up to. I will also add more photos in time. I have some of the best colour shots of the Valiant Bombers on dispersal on Christmas Island I have ever seen and loads more of them on the beach and drinking there Sundays away LOL
