Hi Sam,

Welcome to the site smiley

First you need to create a Gallery:

  1. Go to Photo Galleries > Create Gallery.

  2. Type a name for the gallery in the Gallery Name text box.

  3. Type a description for the gallery in the Description text box.

  4. Click the Save button.

Then you need to upload your photos to that Gallery:

  1. Go to Photo Galleries > Create Image.

  2. Type a name for the image in the Title text box.

  3. Type a description for the image in the Caption text box.

  4. In the Gallery Image section, click the Browse button.

  5. Locate the images on your computer and either double-click it or single-click it and then press the Open button. The path of the image, on your computer, should then appear in the Gallery Image text box.

  6. Click the Upload button. A thumbnail of the image should then appear.

  7. In the Assign to Gallery section select the Gallery, you wish the image to appear in, from the drop-down list.

  8. Click the Save button.

Hi Sam.

Trust you are in good health.  I will try to help you in uploading pictures to this site.  You can print this out Guide To Uploading Pictures.  Have your printer switched on and loaded with paper.  Place your Mouse Pointer somewhere on this page and Right Click and select PRINT.

Go to top of the site above the the words Christmas Island Remembered.  Place mouse pointer on the word Photo Galleries, select Create Gallery.  At the bottom left hand side click on small menu and give your gallery a Name ((Example Sam Year to Year.(If you give the year you were on Christmas Island or as you add pictures to upload and give the month or year I feel it makes it more interesting for people who view the site.))  Next go to Photo Galleries and select Create Image. The Text Editor will display.  At the bottom left hand side is Brows below is select Gallery select your Gallery Name which you will have previously created. (Note: I try to remember to select Gallery Name before  Brows for Image.)

When you have browsed for the image and selected Open the file name will display in the box to the left of Brows.  In the Text Editor you Enter Title.  Below one can give some detail of the picture.  On completing this select and Click Upload. A small green circle will display moving in a clockwise direction, indicating the picture is being Uploaded.  Next Select PreviewWait ! until the picture is displayed below the text (you may have included) otherwise the picture will display in the space it creates.  On completion of Preview go to Save.  If one proceed in a different order when the picture is selected on the Gallery viewing a box with a red cross will display.  This can be corrected by Clicking Edit (in green) at the top of page and going through the correct method.

To create another picture in (Galleries) My Gallery, Click on Create Image. Follow the above sections, remember it is not necessary to create a new Gallery unless one wishes to have separate gallery for different subjects.

At this point I would like to give my experience of uploading a pictures.  You maybe aware that images from digital camera or scanner can have a reference number.  This can be confusing when uploading from a folder.  I can suggest that you have your folder View set to Thumbnails. You can also rename your file, you must still keep the Identifier, in this case as you have mentioned JPG, jpg or jpeg.  A computer will always look for the identifier that is appropriate to the program being used to loading when the file was created or program that is importing the file for insertion as a picture in a word processor, text .  I do trust that I am not telling you information that you may already know.  It is like this example, Filename, Fred 1 must have dot. or as it is termed in America a period.  The last three character are the identifier jpg. There are many more identifiers that appertain to other programs.

I trust this will help you to show us the pictures you would like to show and recall your experience, those many years ago.

Hi Paul and Dennis,

Thanks for your mail.  Pleased to see that you have obtained some details that will allow you to track back on one of the routes taken to Christmas Island.

Just would like to point out if you have not tried look

So: if I comment on someone's photo, it is not possible for me to for example insert/attach in my text a photo of the same place today?
